Marsh Frog (Rana ridibunda)
World wide Distribution: This species is common and widespread in N. Africa, Middle and S. Europe and W. Asia. It can be found up to 2500m.
In Lebanon: This is the commonest frog in Lebanon being found in many different watery habitats.
Description: It is a middle sized frog, reaching a body length of 70 to 95 mm. Head is large and triangular with large prominent eyes with horizontal pupils. The rounded ear drum is large and distinct. Legs are long and toes obviously webbed. The color varies from green to brown.

With a characteristic bright stripe running from the tip of its head right down its back this is an easy species to identify. It is usually green but the color can vary as shown above to brown. It is a strong swimmer and even if you find one out of the water it will only be a jump away from that pool!
